The history of the Chevalier brand and company dates back to 1950 when Arne Lundberg opened his business in the town of Dalsjofors. The company focused on the production of breeches and classic men's pants. The first development milestone was the development of a new mateir, stretch. This made the pants more fitted to the body and did not restrain movement.

In 1980, the previous owner sold Chevalier to Uniteco. In addition to Sweden, the market expanded to include Norway. The next stage of development was the acquisition of Chevalier by Jan Borekull, owner of Sportmaster AB. This allowed the company to start producing sportswear as well, while also dressing Swedish postal workers. In the 1980s, production was moved from Sweden to Finland and in 1987 to Portugal.

1988 saw the relocation of the company's operations to Gothenburg. The breakthrough came in 1991 since when the company focused entirely on the production of hunting clothing and boots. 1992 marked the start of cooperation with the well-known Gore-Tex brand. The next step was the introduction of an innovative brushed microfiber material. Its combination with Gore-Tex in the MONTANA series of hunting clothes became a milestone and a true bestseller. The garment was characterized by lightness, durability and was also quiet when moving. Together with the Montana series of clothes, the expansion of the brand into other European countries began.

Another hit and milestone was the Midland set, i.e. a jacket together with pants where the membrane was laminated directly into microfiber. This ensured not only water resistance, but also prevented water absorption and retained it on the upper layer. Further development of the company included the introduction of fleeces, backpacks and shirts. The first model of boots with a Gote-Tex membrane was called Husky.
