The author was, of course, Polish, while he published his book for the first time in Russian. This item is considered the first Russian-language book on Safari.

Wladyslaw Horodecki was an architect, traveler and hunter. Between 1895 and 1910 he took part in hunting expeditions to Siberia, Altai, the Caucasus, Turkey, Iran, Mongolia and Afghanistan. In 1911 - 1912 he hunted in Africa, and from this period are written memoirs.
